Background:

The Cathedral High School is a voluntary controlled mixed 11 to 16 school, which was opened in September 1999 as part of the reorganisation of education in Wakefield. The school buildings are light, airy and modern. It is situated on an attractive, open campus near the city centre. There are also five dedicated ICT suites. The school is well served with science laboratories and technology rooms in a specially designed building with facilities for the most advanced work in school sciences, computer assisted design and machining, welding, shaping and fabricating. A large new sports hall and separate gymnasiums allows students to enjoy a wide range of activities. These activities include netball, football, computers, chess, basketball, rounders, badminton, winter sports and karate. The school aims to enable all students to achieve through education their fullest potential spiritually, academically, morally, socially and physically.
