Background:

Wakefield Methodist Voluntary Controlled Junior and Infant School is primarily a Methodist Church controlled school serving the local community, which caters for children of three to 11 years. The school was opened in 1975 on its present site. In 1995 as part of the Wakefield City reorganisation, the school changed from First School status to Junior and Infant. The children work in a class rotation system so all children use the computer suite. In addition to the computer suite each classroom has its own computer and printer so all the children have access to the IT curriculum every day. Children take part in presentations and visiting authors, poets, and drama groups share their expertise on a regular basis. The school integrates all pupils with additional needs. It has comprehensive curriculum, with extensive extra-curricular activities for Key Stage 2 pupils ' table tennis, badminton, netball and football. The school has a caring, learning environment, with a family atmosphere. Each person is valued as an individual with his or her own needs and rights and therefore seeks to provide opportunities for the personal growth and development of everyone.
