Background:

The school founded by Lady Elizabeth Hastings in the 18th century, the school was grant maintained from 1993-1999. It is set in a rural area and has five classes catering for Key Stages 1 to 2. Each class has two PCs and six laptops are available for Key Stage 2 pupils. A peripatetic teacher provides extra assistance with computer studies two mornings a week. Football, netball, cross country running, country dancing, art, violin, recorder and computer and science clubs are all offered as extra-curricular activities both at lunchtime and after school. 'Close' links have been developed with the local church and community and the 'wide' catchment area stretches as far as Selby. Pupils take part in a number of charity fundraising events. Individual education plans are drawn up for SEN pupils by the SENCO, class teachers and support staff.
