Background:
Hawksworth Church of England School was founded in 1875 and is situated on the outskirts of Guiseley, in the rural village of Hawksworth. The school has close links with the local community. The school is involved in a wide range of environmental projects including placing owl, bat and bird boxes in local woodland, planting bulbs and wild flower seed in the village. The school also built an environmental log cabin using locally sourced timber and incorporating a solar and wind turbine power and water recycling. This is used both by the school and other school/community groups. The school is involved in a wide range of sporting activities including football, cricket, hockey, basketball, netball, swimming, athletics, cross-country, golf and angling. The school aims to teach academic skills together with the basic Christian principles of caring and sharing.
