Background:
Marshfield is a community co-educational primary school catering for day pupils aged between four and 11. This school wishes to promote an environment that challenges and motivates children whilst building up their confidence through increasing self-esteem and self-discipline. The school follows the national curriculum for all subjects. As many of its children are from non-English speaking backgrounds, it places heavy emphasis on the teaching of English. By law, all children must take part in a daily act of worship and receive religious education. As it has many different faiths represented in its school it believes in a multi-faith approach. All the teachers are qualified to teach primary sport and every class has PE lessons. Its aim to teach all children the skills for team sports and the teaching is related to the age and maturity of the children. The main team games are cricket, football, netball, and rounders. These take place in the hall and the playground. Marshfield Primary School aim is to provide good quality teaching in a well-organised, disciplined and caring atmosphere.
