Background:

Hepworth school opened in 1884 and serves the village community. It is housed in a single-storey building and facilities include four classrooms, a hall and a library. The school has 'extensive' grounds with a football pitch, adventure playground, pond, meadow and woodland area. The school is 'closely linked' with the local community, with children serving at monthly coffee mornings, performing in the village pantomime and hosting the local 'Hepworth Feast'. The school has a 'strong' tradition in performing arts and there is also a school brass band. The school places emphasis on sport and has held the cross-country trophy for three years running. Hepworth aims to 'provide the opportunity for all children to experience success, academic, creative, personal and social'. The school has attained Activemark Gold Award, Healthy Living Standard and runs lots of extra-curricular activities. "The care and support of pupils by all staff is very high. Pupils' academic needs are very well met so that everyone is appropriately challenged.
