Background:

Bramhope Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is four to 11. The school is accommodated in two buildings. The single-storey building is used by children in the Foundation Stage and the Key Stage 1 age groups and is known as Lower School. It is partially open plan in design and is used imaginatively to facilitate class teaching areas as well as separate activity areas and to give children ease of movement from one activity to another. The two-storey building (Upper School) houses children in the Key Stage 2 age groups and is more traditional in character, having separate classrooms, which are very spacious. Both buildings have large halls that are used for assembly, physical education, drama and music, whilst the Lower School hall is also used for dining. Additional areas have enabled us to create a library in both Upper and Lower Schools and an ICT suite in Upper School. The school enhances the curriculum by providing a wide range of extra curricular activities. These include football, netball, sports club, swimming, tennis, athletics, cross-country, orchestra and singing (to name just a few). The grounds are extremely spacious, with playgrounds attached to both buildings. The field is also used regularly for outdoor games and sports days. Between the two buildings is the school's wildlife garden and pond, which has recently been remodelled by the PTA. This is used by classes to support work being undertaken in the school curriculum.
