Background:

The school is a Specialist Sports College. Its specialism, sport, enhances the education of all students by bringing an even wider range of resources and opportunities. The school's facilities include a learning centre which incorporates a well-stocked library, eight networked computer rooms, 10 fully equipped science laboratories, eight technology rooms with ICT and control technology facilities, city learning centre, a purpose-built theatre workshop and drama studio, spacious and well-equipped art rooms, sports hall, gymnasium, swimming pool and extensive playing fields. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities and out of hours school learning opportunities are offered to all the students. Students enjoy taking part in an excellent choice of clubs after-school including art and design, drama, farm, pony, young engineers, football, rugby, basketball, aerobics as well as support clubs for homework and revision. The school aims to be a caring and supportive school which offers students of all abilities a first class standard of education.
