Background:

The school was built in 1879, which was extended with addition of new hall in 1969 with six new rooms in 2001. Fully networked; ICT suite has interactive whiteboard. This over-subscribed school is situated to the east of Leeds, and draws most of its pupils from the immediate area. The school's record in sports is outstanding and it frequently wins regional titles. Extra-curricular provision includes sport, art, business, music, ICT, French, and science clubs held before and after-school, and at lunchtimes. The school is active in the community, organising Christmas Carols on the village green, for example. Senior citizens are regularly invited into the school and visited by pupils. Children also take part in sponsored events to raise money for charity. In 2004 a four-classroom extension, a Foundation Stage Unit and two Year 1 classes were added, with an enclosed courtyard. The school is a member of the Comerious Project and is currently developing links with schools in France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Greece. The school endeavours to ensure all its pupils' to maximize their potential, academically, physically, morally and socially.
