Background:

Opened in 1975, the school occupies a single storey building in its own grounds overlooking community playing fields, close to open countryside in a pleasant area of north west Leeds.Westbrook Lane has seven class bases, a purpose built ICT suite, three shared working areas, hall and library. A further classroom behind the school is used for small group teaching and care clubs.In addition to the newly refurbished infant playground, there is a large junior playground with grassy areas surrounded by trees, shrubs and the occasional wild rabbit! The junior playground is also currently being developed by creating different zones to improve play opportunities and to create exciting areas for the informal and formal curriculum. There are many after school activities on offer to children including football (boys and girls), tag rugby, tennis, cricket and cross country running. There is also a stitchcraft club, French club and Garden club and also the opportunity to learn to play recorder, woodwind and brass instruments. The school values their children as individuals and respect their needs regardless of sex, race or ability. The school aims to enable children to achieve their full potential in a supported and caring environment and promote a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the school community.
