Background:

Midgley School founded in the 1870s and it is located in a hilltop village near Hebden Bridge. The building is small but the school makes the best use of the space available. Outdoor facilities include a playground and large field and the school has stunning views over the valley. In addition to the national curriculum, Key Stage 2 pupils' are offered the opportunity to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities out of school hours. Children are entered into cross country, football and athletics competitions against local schools. Pupils' in Years 5 and 6 take part in a residential visit annually. After-school care is organised by the parents committee and is available until 18.00pm daily. Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are carefully assessed and supported either within the normal staffing provision or with assistance from specialist external agencies.
