Background:
Headingly Primary School was founded in 1882 and is housed in a two-storey Victorian building in the heart of the Headingley area of Leeds. Music makes a 'large contribution' to the life of the school with the children undertaking a range of activities including school choir, orchestra and recorder groups supported by peripatetic teachers for flute, clarinet, violin and drums. Equal importance is placed on the social, moral and emotional development of its pupils as well as academic success, and the school 'endeavours to support pupils in developing satisfactory relationships with, and respect for, others'. Extra curricular activities include chess, French, football and netball clubs.
