Background:

St Wilfrid's Catholic High School Sixth Form and Language College founded in 1963. It is a voluntary aided 11 to 18 mixed comprehensive school provided by the Diocese of Leeds for the education of Catholic students in the catchment area in the teachings and practices of the Roman Catholic Church. The school is continually seeking ways to improve and enhance buildings and classrooms to provide the right kind of environments to learn and take pride in. It has a wide range of sports activities including swimming in their own pool, skiing trips, water sports holidays, musical tuition, and the chance to participate in concerts and performances, photography, chess, go-karts, computers, dance, aerobics, gymnastics, table tennis and Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. The school has achieved the following awards: Schools Curriculum award, DfES Achievement award, Quality Standards, Technology College Trust, Language Colleges, Sportsmark award. The school aims to provide an environment in which students can grow and develop in their awareness of themselves and others.
