Background:
Allerton High School became a business enterprise specialist school in 2003. The specialist subjects are business studies, mathematics enterprise, as well as information and communication technology. The personal, social and health education underpins the curriculum and Ofsted inspectors recognise its very positive impact on relationships. The school is over-subscribed at all levels and achieves positive value added at Key Stage three, GCSE and A level. The sixth form has been recognised as one of the highest achieving, in terms of value added, in West Yorkshire. Information and communication technology facilities are excellent. The school hopes to benefits from a new building under BSF by September 2008. The school offers very successful alternative curriculum pathways through work related learning programmes, in liaison with local further education colleges and local employers. The school's curriculum offers a wide range of options in Key stage four and Post 16. The school aims to provide opportunity and encouragement for students of all abilities so they attain their full potential.
