Background:

Agnes Stewart Church of England High School is a voluntary aided high school for pupils aged 11-18. Pupils from all areas of the city attend the school following parental application and selection by the governors.The school is well equipped for all areas of the curriculum with facilities comprising gymnasium, music rooms, art rooms, library, seven science laboratories and drama/dance hall. The school has a strong Christian ethos with a school chaplain and regular Eucharist services and assemblies. There is a commitment to the school serving its local community and an appreciation of the need for a variety of experiences for the pupils who come from a wide range of backgrounds. The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, which include basketball, rugby, table tennis, badminton, cycling athletics orienteering and caving. The school is genuinely committed to an inclusive approach and embrace many for whom learning is a challenge. It seeks to raise aspiration, even where it is naturally limited and thereby to raise achievement.
