Background:
A purpose-built one-form entry school that opened in September 1992; sited with views of open countryside on edge of residential area of northwest Leeds; quality enviornment, with broad curriculum. French is taught from reception to Year 5; children in Year 6 learn Spanish, with support from Otley Prince Henry's Grammar School Specialist Language College. Over-subscribed, with three applications per place. DfES achievement award. Ethos: 'Encourages children to make informed, reasoned, responsible decisions about the attitudes they will adopt, both while they are at school and in adult life. We present education as an enjoyable experience that enables children to work together and to be sociable. We instil a sense of responsibility and self-respect as well as cultivating a respect for the rights of others, irrespective of race, gender or creed, and an understanding of different lifestyles, with consideration for those less privileged and an abhorrence of physical and mental cruelty'.
