Background:
Brighouse High School was formed in 1985 following the reorganisation of secondary education along comprehensive lines. The school operates on a split site. The sixth form accommodation is situated near the town centre, where a two million pound modernisation and refurbishment scheme has been completed. The main building was built in 1990 and has been extended every year since 1993. Other facilities include two large music rooms plus practice facilities, seven purpose-built science laboratories and a modern language laboratory. The school has a long and successful tradition of involvement in music, drama and outdoor education, as well as in sport. It has an excellent sporting reputation and has representative sides in netball, hockey, tennis, athletics, indoor hockey, soccer, cricket, volleyball, cross-country, gym and dance displays. The school aims to provide an enterprise ethos within the school and community that encourages the development of enterprise skills.
