Background:

Thornhill High School is a comprehensive school catering for pupils aged 11 to 16 years. The pupils benefit from a range of facilities including suited accommodation for all departments, an excellent fully-equipped library resource centre, networked information technology rooms with internet access, six science laboratories, a nationally renowned learning support unit. All pupils experience a wide range of individual and team sports including football, rugby league, netball, basketball, cricket, rounders, tennis, table tennis, athletics, orienteering, gymnastics and outdoor education. The school also offers a wide range of clubs, providing facilities for all tastes and interests including drama, craft, pottery, Spanish, information technology, circuit training, cycling and self-defence and homework. Music and drama productions are a regular feature of the Thornhill calendar. The school has also achieved the following awards: Specialist Science College in September 2003, Specialist Schools Trust, Sporstmark Award and DfES achievement award.
