Background:
Originally opened in the Manningham area of Bradford in 1877 as a Higher Board School the school went through several reincarnations before becoming a comprehensive school in 1966. The school was relocated to its present Thorn Lane site in 1972. It is located in a semi-rural area on the edge of the city, the school still largely serves the traditional heartland of Bradford with most of its girls coming from the Manningham and Girlington areas. It has a wide variety of sporting activities including badminton, rounders, table tennis, volleyball, swimming and soccer. The school curriculum covers the following subjects: mathematics, English, science, history, geography, religious education, physical education, swimming, personal and social education, art, drama, music, technology, information and communication technology. The school aims to provide a calm, caring and stimulating environment.
