Background:
Ossett School is a state-maintained, co-educational school with a comprehensive intake. It is recognised locally as a school with an increasingly successful academic standard with an atmosphere conducive to learning. The school is based in the town of Ossett to the West of Waterfield. The original school building is Victorian with an added 1920's traditional grammar school building. Large extensions were built in the 60's and 70's. A new sixth form centre is currently being built on the site. The school has strength across the curriculum with no subject area under performing. The school excels in sporting, drama and musical achievement. The indoor pool provides swimming facilities for pupils and staff attending the school and also for other local schools. The school provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, tennis, cricket, rounders and choir. A variety of opportunities are offered in the school to enhance the learning. The school aims to offer a safe and caring environment that creates responsible young people with a wide range of skills for life.
