Background:
Built in 1925, Bentley Primary is situated close to the centre of Leeds. The school occupies 'large two storey brick buildings' with tarmac playgrounds and garden areas with seating. Extra-curricular clubs and activities include recorders, guitar, choir, drama, football and the Christian club and operate at lunchtime and after school. A school production is staged each term and 'strong' links have been developed with the local community through other schools, the church, ex pupils and the parent, teacher and friends association. The school has a special educational needs (SEN) co-ordinator and three SEN assistants provide support for individuals and small groups of pupils. Class teachers are responsible for updating SEN records each half term and monitoring pupils' progress.
