Background:

Built as separate junior and infant schools that opened in 1970; amalgamated as primary school in 1989. Semi-open plan, with 11 teaching areas and some shared activity and computer areas; libraries, resource areas and two large school halls; also administrative area and school kitchen. High standards in art and music as well as academic subjects of English, mathematics and science. Modern foreign languages taught to Years 3 and 4 (French) and Years 5 and 6 (Spanish); links being sought with schools in France and Spain. Range of extra-curricular activities, including sport, chess and Warhammer gaming club. Before-school care, from 8am; after-school, until 6pm. Part-time nursery unit has places for 26 pupils each morning and afternoon session; has its own facilities and securely fenced outside play area.
